50th Birthday Celebration! For my husbands 50th birthday we had a surprise celebration.  I started planning months ahead of time to make sure everything went well. I reserved a ballroom that had beautiful chandleirs and mirrors.  I ordered very elegant invitations with a gold border requesting guests to come to a "Blessed 50th birthday Celebration." I contacted some old college friends (who were not able to come, but sent pictures and other contributions for the event) and my husbands co-workers to come as well.  I made very regal programs for the event on my computer using fine gold parchment paper and translucent paper for the covers.  Included in the program: Evening Events, Poem, and my husbands bio(labeled as Daniels' Pilgrimage). I had a videographer make a video using pictures of my husbands life (baby, childhood, college, adulthood, marriage, children, etc).  the video was GREAT!  I even cried! I printed up beautiful placecards in a elegant font.  I order favors at wrapwithus.com (absolutely incredible!)-little plastic champagne cups that I filled with candy coated choclate candies, wrapped in gold edged tulle and tied with a personalized ribbon(Daniel's 50th Birthday on one side and February 8, 2003 on other side). These were set at each place setting.  The food was great! The Menu consisted of stuffed chicken breast with sage dressing, flounder chesapeake, swedish meatballs, vegetable medley, wild rice, tea, and bread & butter.  There was also a full size almond flavored sheet cake custom decorated white and navy w/gold foil. As my husband walked in the ballroon (completely clueless) everyone yelled out Surprise! He was indeed surprised. I had invited his family and there were some that he haven't seen in over 20 years! There were 5 guest speakers, 2 solos, and alot of tributes.  Out 4 year old daughter even sand two songs (so CUTE).  Everyone had a great time, but especially my husband.  I received many compliments and people were saying "she really LOVES him" as they left.  It was the best birthday celebration he has ever had (this is what he kept telling over and over).  It was truly a Blessed 50th Birthday Celebration to be remembered for years to come.
